And I'm still trying to figure out how a cartoon is so upsetting to some people.  LOL  I mean..I've seen Homer Simpson "naked" AND on the toilet and I'm not freaking out.   Big smile

That's because we've become "Desensitived" by the Media. 50 years ago if they did something like this there would probably be a tremendous OUTCRY, today nobody gives a hoot. I was at a Church Dinner yesterday and the Minister said that most of what we see on TV today would have been considered PORNOGRAPHY 50 years ago. IMO if I were able to travel back in time 50 years I'd do it, AND DESTROY THE MACHINE!Angry

To me this commercial is a reflection of how immature the general public is, not to mention easily amused… I work in a very professional environment and sadly when I head back to the physical office, I would not be surprised to hear a handful of coworkers that constantly talk about their infants mention how funny they think this is… We’re all basically in our late 20’s to late 40’s so I’m not sure what how at this age a good handful of them have not outgrown this type of 6 year old child humor…

I’m by no means a prude and my sense of humor probably is up there with the best of them but you need to stimulate me - at least a little! It may sound harsh but in my opinion, this is truly what a good segment of the population finds funny these days and that to me is very sad, borderline pathetic…

I couldn't have said it better myself! I am 61 years old, and I can tell you that commercials like this would never have been considered acceptable back in the day! It has to do with a basic sense of common decency. "Everything is permissable...but not everything is beneficial." Like the frog sitting in the beaker of cool water, who doesn't realize that the water is being heated to boiling, because it is done so slowly. He doesn't even notice the change, so he doesn't jump out, and slowly boils to death. Americans have been conditioned to accept more and more of what would once have been considered objectionable or indecent because the advertisers keep pushing the envelope in tiny doses, so that many people don't even realize how close to the edge we've come. I'm no prude either, but a society that can't draw the line between what is decent and what is not is a society with some serious problems.

By the way, in case you haven't guessed, my wife and I hate this commercial, and the fact that it's a cartoon doesn't make it any more acceptable. "Fritz the Cat" was a cartoon, too, but certainly wasn't acceptable for the general public.

Oh, and firearms and cigarettes were not considered to be indecent by the society back then. As a matter of fact, whether or not you consider firearms to be a "bad" thing really depends on your politics, point of view, and experience with them. Cigarettes were not considered a "bad" or indecent thing back then...even doctors and famous actors were endorsing them (John Wayne), only to find out later that they caused cancer, etc.. But everyone knew that showing babies or toddlers s------g in their diapers was gross, disgusting and not cute or acceptable.

Well, GasX doesn't use real belching & farting in their commercials. Commercial TV even cuts one of the best scenes from Blazing Saddles. Whatever.....

Too many parents seem obsessed with the contents of their kid's diapers or whatever comes out either end.  You only need to take a look at STFU Parents to see the proof of that one.

There is a diaper commercial on TV now with the little girl climbing up the stairs etc, some "ready to go" song playing in the background.  That is cute.

I admit I like the GasX commercial though.....
