AZ republican senator McCain lost the battle with brain cancer this afternoon. He was 81. Please save political bashing for another time. RIP to a war hero and a wonderful person, no matter who you align with politically. CryCryCryCry

Wow, that sucks.

I knew he was getting worse, but I didn't think he was that close.

I didn't agree with his politics and he wasn't always a perfect person, but he loved his country and he had more honor in his little toe than a certain other person's entire family will ever have.

This is a sad day for America.

I just hope his replacement honors his memory by voting as he would have for as long as is left remaining in his current term.

RIP Senator McCain.

It was just earlier today that they announced they were stopping medical treatment. RIP!

Like Jimbo said, a very honorable man. We need more career politicians like him.

I'm very sad to hear this news.  Just yesterday his family announced he would no longer be undergoing treatment for brain cancer.

Senator John McCain was a true American hero and served his country well.  Now that his struggles are over, I hope he rests in peace.

RIP, Senator McCain. You were a true 'class-act' and role model, not to speak of being one of America's heroes (anyone who bravely served in conflict is a hero, of course).

On another (political) forum I post at, the right-wing pro-Trump crowd is trashing all the left-wingers who've been praising and eulogizing McCain.

The claim is that it's hyocrisy to have spoken against him in the 2008 Presidential campaign, then praise him now.

My guess is that it's more about their own hatred of him for opposing Trump.

Even the sad occasion of another Republican's death isn't immune from their politicizing.

Actually, Jimbo, I think this sudden love that the media has for McCain is "politicizing".  I think this sudden love for McCain has more to do with their (the media's) hatred for Trump than any love for McCain.  Remember, it was only 10 years ago when McCain was this crazy old racist who (the NY Times said) was having affairs and who wanted to start a war with Iran.

Oh, and here are your words from 8/21/2008:

Like any good former carousing, womanizing fighter jock turned country club Republican he MARRIED into wealth.

After he divorced his car accident disfigured first wife in favor of said new younger, prettier heiress to a fortune, of course.

Yeah, that's just the kind of "moral leadership" we need after 8 long miserable years of Bush.

I'm sure there's plenty more McCain hatred I could find, but neither you nor the media were very fond of him back then.

Here is respect that really counts for a man that was about something good. What is better than a former foe paying you ultimate respect? These are things to learn from, things that should be taught, things we should build upon.
Thank You, Sir - will we ever experience another like you?
