WinkActually, t wasn't their idea...NPR reported this when it happened and *I* thought it was actually pretty neat and HAD to make that 14-year old feel 'empowered', if not proud.
"At the behest of a 14-year-old fan who launched a Twitter campaign, Weezer covered one of the Internet's favorite songs, "Africa." "

I heard Willie Nelson is doing a new album and he's taking on Frank Sinatra's Summer Wind. That should be pretty interesting. Also, it's one of my favorite Sinatra songs.

I like Willie doing his own songs or those of his friends in the country music bid'ness, but he has a tendency to kind of ruin songs that he does which are outside the genre.

IMO, he kind of butchers this old gem....

YMMV as they say.

EVERYBODY that sings and is starting to show touches of 'dain bramage' due to excessive drug abuse, dementia, or Alzheimer's, settles into 'America's Songbook'. Easier than writing and something one can remember from their youth (or, just is easy to perform). Willie Nelson, Bobby Caldwell, Bob Dylan...the list just goes on and on. And you thought you were a 'rock-'n-roller'? No, you're their fan and just getting old...and you can sing along.

The Original, just for old time's sake.

Composed by Gregg Allman and Robert K. Payne

RIP Duane Allman, Gregg, Dickey Betts, Jaimoe, Berry Oakley, and Butch Trucks.

Damn right!!!

This was the version I was raised on and wore the grooves off of on my stereo as a kid.

BTW, Robert K. "Kim" Payne was one of the original ABB roadies and his contribution to the lyrics was the line "And the road goes on forever".

If you're ever looking for an interesting read, check out the book One Way Out: The Inside History of the Allman Brothers Band.

Jimbo recommended.
