I remember someone saying one of their pet peeves is,"heart breaking ASPCA running commercials during funny SITCOMS. I am watching a funny Cheers rerun where Carla is scheming a funny prank and I am laughing, and then comes the very heartbreaking ASPCA commercial with the very abused, starving, and neglected animals. By the time the Cheers rerun is back on, I am feeling depressed and no longer in laughing mood after the depressing ASPCA commercial. "
My name is Donathan, pronounced the same way you pronounce Jonathan, except with a D.😀 Hitting on a Lesbian who speaks to you and about you like trash means you're REALLY desperate! 😀

And why aren't they more concerned with finding a cure instead of just pumping these kids full of dangerous chemicals and radiation on a daily basis? Either cure them or just let them pass. ConfusedConfusedWow.
Last night while shopping, I MET a 'St. Jude's' child and her father. She may have been ..how did I know? When I looked at her and experienced her vibrant 5 year old personality and her up-beat father, who just happened to be wearing a St Jude's t-shirt, I had to stop them, introduce myself and find if I was worthy of five minutes of their time. He really painted an amazing picture of a truly amazing place and what they have done for her and the rest of the family. For a 5 year old, she was brilliant and will be missed when her time comes.

+1 for using "pet" peeves and ASPCA in the same sentence.
Not sure how I missed that.  Tongue

Well I hope, when you do have a child and they get cancer and have to go to St. Jude's. THAT you have a different ADDITUDE. BTW my dad had an experience with cancer believe me it was NOT FUN. He's fine now but he had a long recovery.
One good thing about TV-you could always turn it off

Why should the taxpayer have to ensure research continues? Why isn't the government spending more? Kennedy put us on the moon in five years, why didn't any president since then commit to find a cure for any one of the top 5 diseases? Maybe because if people didn't get these diseases they would live longer and cost the government even more in the long run? And it doesn't help that big pharma would rather treat than cure.

WinkSmileHello Karl Marx, Jr.
You sound like a perfect candidate to go live in Canada, or heck - maybe any number of European countries. They do what you say - Canada, Germany, the UK. Maybe when you can earn and actually save enough to come live in the USA once again, you might accidentally have a newfound appreciation for our own little shortcomings.

What about what I said do they do in Canada, Germany, the UK? Unless I missed it, none of those places has cured cancer.

You keep donating your money to human causes and I'll keep donating my money towards animal causes.  My dog is more human and civilized than most human beings.......

WinkBig smileTheir chances will certainly remain lower as NOBODY funds cancer research anywhere near the way the USofA does, at least until the new tax laws kick in and the deductible for donations will fall through the floor.
(the following sourced from

My earlier comments were 'tongue-in-cheek'; socialist government-controlled funding ensures funding, but the results are certain to be far from what is achieved in the USofA.

Global cancer research funding (FY2004/5) (excluding industry)
USA cancer research spend by type of funding organisation (FY2004/5)

I actually don't mind these ads. The scenes of shivering dogs, and kitties who look as though they were thrown from moving cars are very sad. We own 9 rescue cats, and one rescue dog, so my household is doing our part to allow a comfortable home for these poor, mistreated animals.
As for Ms. Cuoco, I love her very much, long hair or short hair. She seems like a genuinely nice person.
