All I know is that thanks to Vicky Lawrence and that song, I grew up knowing not to trust my soul to no backwoods southern lawyer. And that no matter where I went, I always knew the judge in the town had blood stains on his hands. Thank you, Vicky. I owe you!!! |

I found this site about 10 or 11 years ago while looking for a song that was being used in a Hewlett-Packard printer commercial. I found the song eventually, but the webpage I found it on became corrupted or something.
Anyway, I see the song finally got posted to Youtube a few weeks ago. Anyway, here it is---the reason I'm a member of CIH. Kinda catchy, I think. It's about filming porn. |

...The James Gang just wasn't The James Gang without Joe Walsh - I couldn't listen to them after he left, but, for some odd reason, I bought this album and never have been able to get this cut out of my head...(think Tommy Bolin (too clean, too polished, not down & grungy like we like) played lead guitar on this album)

This whole album has a bit of my life in it (worked for them for a number of shows in the early '70's). This WAS my #1 album for many years. When it originally came out, it was almost impossible to find (in West Germany). Believe it or not, I hitch-hiked to Verdun, France (for the adventure and to study history), where I found my first copy - which I still have.

Here is a young Joe Walsh circa 1970 or so, on stage with the James Gang inside the hideout of outlaw Job Cain, in the cult classic film Zachariah.
Billed as the first electric western. |

^^^I think the title of this thread is 'Any old songs you can't forget', not 'Any old songs you can't forget from 'Drag Queen Night in Gdansk' when you gave over-the-counter, but under-the-table warm and fuzzy frothy to Bruno'.

Are you talking about the one I posted? Hey, I saw that video here at CIH many years ago. Maybe it was in a thread about bad videos. I'm pretty sure Jimbo posted it. I could be wrong. A few months back, my punk-rockin' 30 y/o co-worker was playing it on his handheld device as I was walking by. I cracked up. |

I had a huge confession going about a 20 year old girlfriend and my mom's trip to the Mayo clinic.
Then the page crashes.

As I recall, Tommy Bolin didn't have such a clean sound when he was with Zephyr. Maybe I'll re-listen to them later. I don't think I've listened to them in 45 years. It's too early right now for grimy old blues-rock. Hell, I find myself getting agitated by the Time-Life "Power of Love" infomercial (featuring Air Supply, Ambrosia and many others) on in the next room right now. |

I clicked on a "101 songs you must hear" site. I did not know half of the songs or artists. Of course I am a dinosaur. I realized the site was BS when they stated Elton John's "Candle in the Wind" was a tribute to Princess Dianna. The first line in the lyrics is " Goodbye Norma Jean" (Marilyn Monroe). Ignorant Idiots.
