I don't feel like posting videos, so a small list instead. Smile

"Dopesmoker" - Sleep
"Hits From The Bong" - Cypress Hill
"Dopethrone" - Electric Wizard
"You Don't Know How It Feels" - Tom Petty

and yeah, "Sweet Leaf" is just about the king of 4/20 songs.  Hell, the entire Master of Reality album could qualify just on sound.
I have 168 characters remaining.

"Pass The Dutchie On The Left Hand Side" by Musical Youth. The very first lyric sounds weird, though. "This generation rules the Nation, with Russia," is what it sounds like he is saying. LOL, WTF?
My name is Donathan, pronounced the same way you pronounce Jonathan, except with a D.😀 Hitting on a Lesbian who speaks to you and about you like trash means you're REALLY desperate! 😀

I think they call it Molly nowadays.

You're like soooo five minutes ago.

I remember when pot was called grass.  We didn't call it weed.  That was kinda dorky at the time.  Blacks called it herb.

Nothing new about that. They've been writing songs about Molly for ages.

"Evil Bong" is a fun, stupid movie (though it drags in places.)  The song "Mrs. Green" in the end credits is pretty good.

I think they knew. They totally knew. You see all these little moments of them looking at each other with silly grins.

The only peron not in the know was Lawrence Welk himself, I believe. The song was presented to him by the performers (might have been G&D, might have been another, I can't recall) and he just never registered the word toke or asked what it meant.

I wouldn't be too sure about that.

I read a story about him once, that was written by a guy who was the child of someone who worked on the show. According to this guy, Welk was a Hollywood swinger. Drove around in a convertible & partied with some of the popular rock musicians of the day.

Don't know if that's true, but I'm sure he was a fairly savvy guy, on spite of his wholesome rube image.

Hell, Welk might've been the one who decided to put the song on the show.

Could be.

I seem to recall the regulars from the show recounting the events around this song, and I could have sworn the story was Lawrence not knowing, and being pretty shocked/horrified when it started being talked about.

The song came out in 1970.  I'm not sure I even knew what "toke" was at the time (even though that's the year I had my first one).

The original Rolling Stone review of the album in 1971 kinda joked about Black Sabbath putting out a song about marijuana so late in the game.  Still, like you said, it's just about the king of such songs.
