Nope.  Didn't work.  You're still Donathan.

Nitpick away! I was just referring to his old-new name "Tampon Submarine"

thanks for setting me straight!

I actually kinda like the subject of this thread.  Kinda broad, maybe, but I've lamented before how songs don't seem to really tell actual stories anymore.

^^ One thing about the epic saga that's Donathan and Co. is that there have been a few good threads among the more egregious ones.  Case in point - the Random Things thread. Look how long that one's gone on and still ticking strong.

Of course for every good one there are 3 or 4 about Stinky farts or Boss crushes LOL

LOL LOL

Hence the birth of the next batch of Donathangs.

Speaking of - With a little tweaking, the lyrics to the Brady Bunch theme tell the story quite nicely Tongue

Here's the story of a crazy lady
Who was making up three very lovely girls.
All of them had hair of gold, like their mother,
With haunting, chilling curls.

Here's the story, of a man named Donathan,
Who was busy making up three boys of his own,
They were four men, with Twix complexions,
Yet they were all alone.

Till the one day when the lady met this fellow
And they knew it was much more than a hunch,
That this group must somehow be the same person.
That's the way they all became the Donathan Bunch.

DYING HERE....

"they were 4 men with Twix complexions..."

That will be the only lyrics going through my mind from this point on.

Now that Bryan or Sandra or whoever started this thread is gone, we can get to the matter at hand:

Gordon Lightfoot's, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", which tells the story of an iron ore freighter ship that went down in a major November storm in the early-1970s.

Songs that told stories of the sea were popular there for awhile.  My favorites:

Sloop John B by the Beach Boys
A Salty Dog by Procol Harum
Ride, Captain, Ride by the Blues Image
I'm Your Captain by Grand Funk
Brandy by Looking Glass

"Ballad of the Yarmouth Castle" about a cruise ship that burned is even more intense than The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. It is on the Sunday concert album. Thor; your songs of the sea are good ones and I remember all of them. I will add Southern Cross by Crosby, Stills, and Nash.

That song, not to speak of the real story itself, has always been way too long and just too damned depressing...so, here's the musician who actually 'fixed' the song.
