Without giving it a second thought, Dad's gonna shell out $300-$1,200 for a Katy Perry show for his daughter and her friends.

Apparently, Dad thinks it's a good idea to buy Katy Perry tickets for his daughter and 6 or 7 of her friends because he gets "two times the thank-you points on each ticket".  Are these "thank you points" from CitiBank worth $40-$160 per ticket?  'Cuz that's what I see Katy Perry tickets go for.  And you know damned well that Dad isn't gonna get his little girl and her friends the $40 seats.

I don't know what a "Thank you point" is worth...but I kinda doubt it's gonna make financial sense.  Worse than that, though, is Dad's willingness to bestow this gift for no apparent reason.  Maybe he's recently divorced and needs to win his daughter's love.  That's all I can think of.

Ugh - there's another one of these where Super Dad (and is it just me or don't these parents remind you of weekend warriors who, through their asshole lawyers get 2 weekends per month with their spermmistakes after the bitter divorce) takes the son to a National Football game where he got sideline seats.  The kid is relentlessly yammering about all the things he wants to ask the foorball star only to get tongue tied flabbergasted.

OK, WHO thought standing a 6 year old on the sidelines of a professional football game would be a great idea? The kid's lucky he doesn't get punted.

Can't find the video...

It seems like there has been a blitz of ads from big banks offering all the extras with THEIR card.
I don't trust them. These days you have to have one. I don't give a flying fk about all the points and rewards. They are just trying to pull in the young vulnerable people who have not yet learned how to manage a budget.

I'm gonna have to say this...

Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Niki Minaj are the most overrated singers ever!

Well Ad, I'll admit that they are strange, but they can sing.

Like frequent flyer miles. You end up needing a bazillion miles to get a ticket that probably seats you in baggage class. I had a Shell gas card many years ago that gave you 5 cents per gallon discount. Not a fortune but at least something.

I don't think Lady Gaga and Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj and the rest are strange; I think they just pretend to be.  Strange, kooky, crazy, offbeat or whatever---I think it's just their schtick.  When the top of the pop charts are populated by these types, it all just seems gimmicky and expected.

Neither do I think the overly-sexy types of singers are all that sexy.  They try too hard.  With them, "sexy" just seems like a business decision.

Die Antwoord, a South African rap act, was asked awhile back by Lady Gaga to be her warm-up act.  They said she symbolizes everything they hate, and issued their "no" via this video:

However...I'd really like it if they'd be Katy Perry's warm-up act.

I'd agree with all of the others, but no, Adele has a real, excellent voice. She doesn't need all of the techno, mixed noise-type, camouflaged crap to sound good. She's got some pipes!

And yes, I think the Father is stupid and maybe he should think that maybe his young girls shouldn't see Katy Perry if his middle-aged friend is so hot to see her.
A new study finds that people who are chipper & happy live longer. Which is surprising because people who aren't chipper & happy want to kill people who are always chipper & happy. David Letterman

Fine, I'll change it.

I chose Adele because it seems her songs sound the same. I don't really hate her, it's her music that sounds repetitive. But if it irks you that much I'll change it.

In Adele's defense, she's in her 20's, and does not sexualize herself to sell her music. That's brave, in this sex-obsessed society.

I worked for Citi's mortgage division for several years as a processor, and I can honestly say their customer service is the worst I've ever seen.  They expected us to be superhuman in terms of being able to keep up with 160-200 loans in our pipelines, forcing us to status each loan once a week (40 loans a day is a lot harder than it sounds), and forcing us to do inbound customer service calls on top of it.  Every day we'd have to listen to person after person screaming at us about how lousy our customer service is and have to defend the company by saying it was Obama's fault or something like that while inside we were thinking how right these crabby customers were...

At least Gaga and Miley Cyrus can actually sing, despite letting their images overshadow their talents.  Minaj is completely tone-deaf when it comes to singing and Perry isn't much better without autotune.

Who the hell sings "catching my breath, letting it go. Turning my cheek, for the sake of the show"?

I HATE that damn song so much, I've heard it on people's radio stations at least 8 or more times in total. ENOUGH ALREADY!

I found it! Kelley f**king Clarkson. Jeez doesn't she have enough exposure already? She's EVERYWHERE for crying out loud!

I bet the radio stations get a lot of money each time they play that freaking song. I HATE payola radio!

In Kelly's defense, she's still relevant, after people originally wrote her off as a future one-hit wonder, though in their defense, "A Moment Like This," one of her first hits was generic bubblegum ballad-pop, and they didn't think she'd go far.) she got some pretty kick-ass songs after her first album, such as "Walk Away, and Stronger...

Puke... "A Moment Like This" was one of the worst pieces of crap I've ever heard.  Talking about the song itself, not Kelly's performance.  Thankfully for Kelly she left that behind and went edgier, starting with "Miss Independent" (a Christina Aguilera handout, but one that did better than Christina's current single at the time).

"Catch My Breath" isn't a bad song IMHO but I don't think it's one of Kelly's best.  It sounds like virtually everything else she has released over the last few years.  I sometimes suspect that she and Pink are the same person recording under two different identities, because their songs sound so similar (probably the result of using the same songwriters/producers i.e. Max Martin/Greg Kurstin).
