About a month or so ago, an old tree burned down near here. This was not any old tree, though. At 3,500 years old, "The Senator" as it was called, was the oldest tree in North America & the 5th (known) oldest tree ON EARTH!!!!!
 
This tree was somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,500 years old when Jesus was alive!!!!
 
Up until recently, it was assumed that lightning had struck the tree & started the fire that destroyed it. That was sad, but when Mother Nature does something like that, it makes it a little easier to accept.
 
Today, local police announced that they'd made an arrest.
 
Turns out, some stupid 26 y/o piece of trash, meth head bitch who liked going to the tree to smoke her meth, crawled inside the base & lit a fire inside so she could see what she was doing......
 
UGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Angry 
 
Here's the "lovely lass" (the piece of trash in the inset) along with her handiwork.
 
 
She had video of the fire on her cellphone & told her friends "I can't believe I burned down a tree that was older than Jesus!!!"
 
I hope she gets a nice long prison sentence & gets abused by every "bull" in her cellblock on a regular basis!!!!
 
What an outrage.

Hopefully, they'll give her the max for arson, destruction of property and drug charges.  Maybe they'll get her on trespassing, too.  This seems like a situation where the judge might "throw the book at her".

It's pretty low when you're hiding in trees to light up your meth pipe.

It is very disheartening when things like that happen and even worse because it didn't have to happen.  Whenever things that are in nature are destroyed it always makes me sad because you just can't replace them or get them back.  I just heard a story on NPR that over 500 elephants were killed in one month on one wildlife preserve--by far the most ever killed in that short of time.  I may never see a giant Sequoya or visit an African preserve (would love to) but it still upsets me that humans can be so selfish and greedy.
