Yesterday's show:
"Your apple juice may contain cyanide!!!!!!"
If it comes from China (like most of it seems to), yeah, probably....
Today's show:
"Checking your pee and poop in the toilet can tell you what deadly diseases are going to kill you!!!!!"
If you told people to taste it, I wonder how many would....
Tomorrow's show:
"Water: The deadliest ingredient... in orange juice!!!!!"
Backed up with plenty of drowning statistics, no doubt....
Wonder when he's going to start shouting like Billy Mays...?

I'm tired of this clown too.
He's on the verge of paranoia and constantly spouting rhetoric about harmless sh*t that won't do anything. Arsenic in apple-juice? Maybe. But has it been linked to killing anyone? No. So who the hell cares? People have been drinking apple-juice ever since someone got the idea to smash the juice out of an apple. There's a quote I like that applies here. "We avoid taking risks in life, so that we can make it safely to death." Somebody take this fear/paranoia inducing quack off the damn television. |

Wait a second... Don't apple seeds have cyanide in them in the first place?
I haven't seen his show in ages, but those shows do get frustrating. |

I made it a point to watch that show because I was interested.
Now, another doctor (a friend of his) has come out & claimed that there are 2 different types of arsenic (not cyanide) with one kind being INORGANIC
He says Oz didn't have the juice tested for which TYPE of arsenic the juice contained.
Oz claims it doesn't matter because the FDA doesn't differentiate either & that BOTH kinds are bad for you.
He says to look on the label in TWO places.
"A product of....." just means where it was packaged.
But by the production date code, it is required to list the country of origin of the concentrate.
According to Oz: stay away from juice made from concentrate from China, Argentina & Brazil.
IOW.... look for concentrate made in & from apples grown in the US.

Since hearing this, I've been reluctant to drink apple juice but if apples have small traces of arsenic in them anyway, what's the harm? I've been drinking apple juice for years and only got sick from it once (it was the particular brand that made me sick). This is mainly why I go for organic fruit; the chemicals they spray the stuff with makes me sick.

Or both?

The nice thing is the Dicken's Fruit Store is right next door to Pinkley Ford. I can go next door to look at the new Pinkley Taurus. |

How often do they trim the bushes around Pinkley Taurus?
I find it makes for easier access when they keep them trimmed nice & neat.

Dr. Oz's latest breathless, dire warning..... SODA POP.
Not that it's not particularly healthy for you in a general sort of way, but that drinking TWO SODAS per week will cause PANCREATIC CANCER!!!!
I looked it up & some respectable, believable sources have raised a lot of questions about the "accuracy" of the study that "suggested a link" (nothing more) between people who drink soda pop & an elevated risk of pancreatic cancer.
Also, the risk though it rose some 87%, is still miniscule given the rarity of the disease.
IOW, it was just another shameless, alarmist stunt to get people to tune in to his goofy-ass show.
That guy is beginning to get on my nerves.
"Next Dr. Oz show...... Which medical & personal health-themed daytime TV show has been proven to cause needless anxiety amongst it's viewers?...... Tune in as we expose my sho..... er the culprit!!!"

Hmmmm...that would be "Phil McCrack". "Phil McCracken" doesn't work as well, in my very humble opinion.
There was an article in the SF Chronicle in the early 90s about some crane that toppled over on a construction site in SF near a homeless encampment. The picture accompanying the article showed some homeless black guy who witnessed the incident. He identified himself as Phil McCrack. The Chron editors didn't catch that. Or maybe they did, but decided to let it go.

Yeah, but some people pronounce "feel" as "fill", in which case it can be read "feel m'crack". "Feel m'crack in" wouldn't work.

I never associated "Phil" with "feel".
I always assumed it was "fill".
If it's supposed to be "feel", then you could go with Phil McCock too.

It's kind of like how many blacks say "keepin' it rill" instead of "keepin' it real".
Conversely, I've been called "Beel" instead of "Bill". And when I worked on Beale St., some people pronounced it "Bill St.".
