It has to be the right time. Bewitched came around the same time as I Dream of Jeannie and the Addams Family and the Munsters, all kind of other-worldly.

Same with Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction and Green Acres.

And then there were all the Westerns (holy sh*t, there were a lot of 'em) and the secret agent shows and superhero shows. I remember liking Batman and the Green Hornet in the same era.

Oh, Hee Haw and Laugh-in.

What I'm saying is that these shows propped each other up. Bewitched on its own may have flopped.

FWIU I Dream Of Jeannie came along on NBC a year after Bewitched came on ABC as a kind of copycat show.

The Munsters and The Addams Family were released on different networks at the same time. Maybe one network got wind of what the other was doing and decided they wanted something similar.

But yes, it was part of the early - mid 60's culture.

Sci-fi, the space age, wacky, out of the ordinary shows were all the rage because we had just come out of the boring 1950's.

Everyone wanted to be cool and hip and crazy.

Elvis. The Beatles. Dobie Gillis.

Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. Beach Blanket Bingo.

All that stuff was fresh and new back then.

Old hat now. Remakes will not rekindle the old magic.

Everything is the internet nowadays.

Woke, PC racial, non-offensive stuff.

We're regressing back to the boring 1950's.

well - all I know is that I will lose it if there is ever a Gilligan’s Island remake - thankfully The Schwartz family is holding on to this one tight - and if I’m not mistaken, Tina Louise, was the only one who signed up for royalties, and still gets paid everytime an episode or something referenced to Ginger Grant is aired, therefore they cannot re-make this series without cutting a deal.

That's good to hear.

Although it would be great fun to speculate about what the new, ethnically diverse cast of a GI reboot would look like.

I wonder if Gilligan would look anything like Urkel.

BTW, the movie bombed.

I never even knew they did that.

I thought it started when they cast Will Smith as James West in the crapification of The Wild, Wild West.

Or maybe Eddie Murphy as The Nutty Professor.

DirecTV = AT&T

I freaking hate AT&T!

When I first moved into the place a year and a half ago, I called Spectrum.  They do not even have service for these homes back here in the swamp.  I was forced to call AT&T,  This place did not even have a phone line for internet service.  I asked them how soon they could get Sat. TV service up and running.

They jacked me around for days and I finally told them to forget the Sat. service.  I called Dish who was out here in only a couple days.  FVCK  AT&T!!
