That's a temporary price for new customers.  It's also a lower level of cable.  Nowhere near as many channels as I currently have.

It's temporary unless you call.  I just get the Encore channels, no HBOs or anything. Everything up in the 300s are music channels or triplicates of what I already have.
No landline, either.  I called and told Comcast I was gonna keep their broadband and get rid of their cable for a Dish.

It got me a good deal.

I think we pay 8 dollars a month for our cable boxes.....

It pays to have a husband who works in cable, employees get almost everything free. HBO and all.
It's ok, I'm in marketing!

My friend has DirecTV and they played this commercial on his DirecTV.

Talk about a waste of money on advertising.

Why would DirecTV tell people who already have DirecTV to get DirecTV?

Same reason Comcast does it to their Comcast customers, I suppose.

Because they are idiots?

Probably why they charge so much.

Like if Geico didn't make all these stupid commercials and pay all these actors big money to be in their commercials, then they could charge people LESS money for the insurance.

Do cable providers determine which commercials are aired on let's say ABC or the History Channel?  I dunno how that works, but I don't think they do.  If they could, Comcast, for instance, would probably block Dish Network or Direct TV commercials before they'd block their own.

I have had the pleasure of working with several companies and I have gone without it completely and ended up with a huge DVD collection. I have research several of the companies and I was overall not completely thrilled with the customer service from a couple of the major service providers. I also think that companies should be moving forward with their technology and not spending money on silly commercials. I started working for Dish about two years ago but due to my location was unable to utilize the services. As it turns out I really was missing out but it would be far worse now than back then. I moved and was able to get services recently, I have not had a customer relations issue, and the pricing is still the best in the industry. They are the one company that is reaching out to create more innovative technology mainly based off feedback from customers. I have a very good feeling that they are not even close to being finished and it would not take but a second to check it out and see all that there is for the taking.

Speaking of...

What do people here pay for their cable services?

I pay about $160/mo to Comcast.  It's bundled, but I think my breakdown is...

Digital cable TV               $70
"High Speed" internet    $50
Unlimited phone             $40

that sounds about right, Thor, at least for me. But I don't have a "phone". at least no land line.
