I didn't know where else to post this topic since there wasn't a "Radio Shows with Too Many Commercials" thread, so I'll do it here.

Dennis Prager is a national talk show host out of Los Angeles, Mondays through Fridays.  His show is interesting - he analyzes current events as well as matters of societal trends of people.

But the guy has too many damn commercials!  He'll go on long-winded monologues, as many hosts do at the start of the show.  You figure after the break at the bottom of the hour, he'll start taking callers now that he's laid out the topic(s), but no.  He'll either go on with what he started the show with or trade comments with his producer and call screener.  And the commercials!  Either it's a straight-forward 4+ minute break or Dennis himself pitching a product while slipping in an upcoming appearance or a book he's trying to pedal.  Altogether, I'd say listeners get MAYBE 14 minutes of program every half hour, with 16 minutes for commercials of one sort or another.  That is, unless a friend of his is pushing a new book, then you'll get more actual programming time.  Of course, that means Dennis will talk over or interrupt his guest while the visitor tries to answer because after, it's all about DENNIS.

This week, he spent an entire half hour-plus with Adam Corolla pushing a movie they're making together called "No Safe Spaces."  It was like a long-winded infomercial on top of all of the commercials.

Prager has heard complaints about the abundance of commercial time from listeners, to which he smugly replies, "If they don't like it, then buy a sponsorship of a segment of time."  No Dennis, the point is; How Much Is Enough??  I have no doubt you have an obscene profit margin as it is with the show, the website, the books, the lectures, and more.  Why not give something back to the audience you claim to care so much about?  Cut back on one commercial break every half an hour and you'll still be awash in black ink in your ledger.  How about it?

People need to stop tuning in to his show.

Show him who's really the boss here.

ALL talk radio shows are just as bad vis a vis the ads-to-talk ratio.  I preferred the Dennis Miller show, but they replaced him with Prager in my area.  But if you want real torture, listen to Medved  (I don't... LOL  )

The commercial breaks on AM or talk radio have gotten so long, and the repetition is so mind numbing, I find myself just turning the damn radio OFF more and more.  We used to get the news at the top of the hour, but at one minute past, there's nothing but commercials for five or six minutes.  Too many breaks in between.  Too much repetitive needless chatter.  I don't need to hear the weather girl announce her name three times with her 30 second spot.  Just one example.   Angry

The radio hosts I listen to push a lot of My Pillow, vitamins and under-eye serum (called Shamoni, or something like that).  They all claim to use the products.

For awhile, a few years ago, I tried to get into listening to a late night radio show about UFO's and paranormal activity. It's called Coast to Coast AM, hosted by a guy named Art Bell. But after just a couple of tries, the seemingly endless amount of damned commercials just turned me off.

So I did the same thing with the radio.

Turned it off.
