Every once in a while I run into websites with a comments that leave large text boxes on the bottom for you to leave a comment or reply. Typically these are news websites, blogs or other miscellaneous websites that have done their own custom sh*tty coding. I take about 10 minutes to compose my reply or comment, then the next page will pop up saying registration is required to send the comment.
No, I'm not going to register a username, email address and do a confirmation process for a website I will probably never ever visit again and will probably spam me for ages. They are doing the process backwards. They should have a button for "reply", then it will prompt you to either log in or register. That way I will immediately know not to waste my time. I think websites are doing this deliberately. If people knew registration was required, they would simply move on, but once they have invested time in their reply, they might register simply not to see their effort wasted. |

One website seemed to accept my comment, but it didn't appear. Turns out that they had recently started requiring people to register, but didn't mention it anywhere on the comments/reply page, and furthermore, hadn't even adjusted the site to not accept comments from unregistered people. The comments simply didn't appear.
