My girlfriend and I hate this one: Teenage son complains about Dad not getting Cox internet TV because the signal with their existing provider keeps buffering. When picture pauses, Dad says to son, "It's bonding time! So how's chemistry...with [girl's name, I don't remember what it is because i hit the mute button too fast]?" He has a bit too much voyeuristic interest in his eyes. Creepy!
Sequel ad has teen and his GF at home and dad says "I know all about you!" Creepier!
Why they are playing this up for laughs is beyond us.

I always got uncomfortable when my dad would on occasion encourage me to invite girls from school over to the house. He didn't have any pervy intent of course, but it still made me NOT want to do it.

Could be that people don't get the Cox ads, as this cable provider may not be available where they live. I've never even seen a commercial in California for them.

I found the commercial. I've never seen it until I looked it up. I gotta agree with Dr Dan though .. creepy ass dad, especially the tone of his voice when he mentions how "Ashley" is cute and looks like the son's mom:

As for the Cox advert, if I had a teenage daughter and she had been violated by her boyfriend's dad (mom, brother, whatever), I might be in jail by now for throwing my TV through my local Cox outlet's window!
BTW, Cox isn't as widespread as I thought. Their service locations are scattered across the country - and I mean scattered:
Arizona
California (southern only from what I can tell from their site)
Cleveland (but not elsewhere in Ohio from what I can tell)
Connecticut FloridaGeorgia
Gulf Coast
Idaho
Kansas
Las Vegas (not rest of Nevada, apparently)
Louisiana
Omaha, NE
Oklahoma
Rhode Island
Virginia

The father in this commercial and I graduated from the same Lincoln, NE, high school. He was a year or two behind me.

I hate these commercials not only because of the dad's creepiness, but because he's so obnoxious. He's one of those parents who insists on taking a summer camping trip in an RV, just so the family can "bond". The ones with him making inappropriate comments to his son's g/f make me want to punch him, although the son's sudden look at the camera did get a laugh out of me.

Dads can't do anything right. He buys a 70-inch TV but makes the kid suffer through the dreaded buffering. What a sadist.

Wonder if sonnyboy has had a moment to talk to Mom about Dad's 'strange ways'.
Dad appears to like those 'buffering moments' a little too much for comfort; it wouldn't be unreasonable to figure he is 'registered'.

I pretty much hate all Cox ads at this point. They've taken this freaky dad character and turned it into a whole series of ads with the latest being going crazy over bundeling.
Here's another stupid one they air all the time: They work for the competition so they themselves can't get Cox? What type of BS is that?!?!?! Also this one really irritates me: They save a whole $10 a month so they use that to start an investment club? Stupid.... Then the one woman busts the other for supposedly playing solitaire but both her hands are on the keyboard. What version of solitaire do you play with the keyboard instead of the mouse? None that I know of. And yet another commercial featuring a dumb dad: Again, I HATE Cox commercials...if you don't get them in you area, consider yourself lucky.

Oh, Jebus...
I swear that my life just got shorter from watching that last ad. Someone needs to put this man in a home and give his wife everything that she's clearly been missing out on since their unfortunate marriage. At least try to find your boy a male role model so he doesn't turn into Norman Bates.

There are no redeeming qualities in any of those ads, all recordings of them should shot straight into the sun.

As a parent who enjoys tormenting my teenagers, I got a kick out of the dad in the first few ads. The most recent ones (after the Ashley-girlfriend one) are trying too hard though, they ought to let it die (she said naively).

I've been using DSL for years and have no problem with watching HD movies on Netflix, XBOX Live or the countless buffering problems that commercial claims. Even with Cable you will get buffering if the original server is crappy.

While COX is not everywhere in NV; Vegas is not the only City it's in. It is also in Henderson, NV which is where I live.
Now with that said..........Did you know they are in Talks to take this COX Family and make it into a Sitcom??? It would be the 1st one ever to do so?! Sitcom of course would air Nationwide............wonder how that will play out? Would it only be successful in City/States that have COX or vice versa??? Only Time will tell I guess............

^As someone who lived in Vegas for three years....let's be honest, Henderson is pretty much a pimple directly attached to Vegas...don't get me wrong, I prefer the pimple to the face in this case, but I honestly could never tell where one town ended and the other began. Not really the best example to support your point.
I miss Henderson. We should have moved there instead of the sh*thole we're stuck in now. |

God....how I hate this commercial. I have Cox cable already. If I didn't have Cox Cable already, this ad would definitely turn me away from signing up with them. BTW....what's the name of the actor playing the father? I would like to know who it is that I hate.

Oh no....not this commercial...time to switch channels.
