From the Jackson 5, to Pilot, to some rap song I couldn't be bothered to look up, we have 3 commercials featuring songs that companies decided they wanted to forever ruin for everyone. I wanted to focus this post specifically on commercials that feature well known original songs (not a lame cover version) but only changing the lyrics to accommodate whatever they are peddling. I'm sure most of you here have seen these before, but these are the three that make me the most nutzy whenever the TV gods decide to bless them upon my soul. Let's get this crapfest started. First up, the pharmaceutical companies that we all know and love bring us a double feature of insta-mute jingles coupled with your favorite drug commercial clichés. Including, but not limited to: 1. Sucking at mini-golf...and probably sucking at large-golf too. 2. Holding hands with a loved one through a random park. 3. Trying on goofy hats with your buds. 4. Over-explaining how the drug you are taking works to a friend who really doesn't care. 5. Taking random pictures of strangers out in public. I know we all do these things when we take drugs but, clichés aside, the music is the focus here. And if that wasn't enough to make you wanna draft up a suicide note after snapping your Jackson 5 vinyls in half, then feast your ears on this masterpiece: Last, and most certainly least, we have LG graciously offering up the dookie-dipped cherry to top off this turd sundae by proclaiming through song and dance that they "got yo laundry." Either that first lady has the nicest laundry room I've ever seen or she opted to put her LG WashTower dead center in her kitchen...not sure. Anyway, everything that you would want to be wrong with this gem is here in full form, so I'll just let this one speak for itself. I apologize that y'all had to see these again, or more so if it was the first time. |

That's a lotta ground you covered there. Anyway, your comments led me to an aricle entitled "Repurposed Pop Songs". It mentioned that the old Budweiser jingle "When You Say Bud" was originally a Sonny and Cher song called "When You Say Love". I never knew that. |

Hopefully my morning caffeine hasn't taken enough effect to let that otherwise pleasant Sonny & Cher song be associated permanently associated with that video montage of eye-ipecac! "When you say Budweiser, you've said it all," is one of the first jingles I remember from childhood. Interpret that as you wish. |

Viewers in Iowa and all the surrounding states are subjected to this:
I never liked (nor hated) that song, but these commercials may shove the needle towards "detest." It also showcases the interior-design fads that bring to mind another "H" sign: |

I'd like to see the chorus portion of this song used for a contraceptive or anti-abortion commercial....

They even have to ripoff the Madness's vocalist singing style with the British accent as well.

At least the actual members of Tag Team are in this one, which makes this one not nearly as bad as some of the others.

Not a drug commercial, but that Bounce ad with its take on "Your Love" by The Outfield is kinda cringe.........
