I get what you are talking about. Tell us why you are superior, not why the competition is inferior. It's too much like politics!

Charter bashes AT&T a lot. And it's always the smug, hip, 30-something that's doing the bashing.Irritating prick.

Yes. And I admit I chuckled a little bit when I saw this commercial. But, like so many before it, I will probably get sick of it very fast.

For me, the product bashing can get to be downright entertaining though.
Cause each company has to figure out how to top the other.
It gets real interesting and downright hilarious after a while.

I didn't actually mind the Samsung vs. iPhone ads for a few reasons.

1. The first commercial was a rather brilliant double take/trick, where you think it's actually giving credence to those ridiculous, disgusting hipster types who have to stand in line for the new Crapple product and revel over every wonderful feature it has that most other devices already had, only to turn around and show the Samsung user scoffing at their silliness.

2. Samsung is indeed superior to Crapple...as is pretty much everything else.

3. They've set themselves up for taunting with their insidiously artsy smug "we're so important to your lives and nothing can ever replace us." So any knock to iProducts I'll take.

I think it's funny to see commercials with products taking on one another in the same break set.
Lately we've been seeing commercials for Cascade stating that their little pellets of doom will clean the dishes and the inside of the dishwasher while their competitor, Finish, will more than likely increase the number of dirty deposits in there.
Then they show an image of both dishwashers inside and the Cascade washer is sparkly bright.
Less than 3 minutes later here comes the Finish commercial saying just the opposite right down to the side by side comparison of the washers.

What would happen if I put both products in at the same time? Would the inside of my dishwasher melt?

In general, companies should just avoid calling out other companies in commercials.

It makes them seem desperate and petty, and I start wondering why they're so worried about the other guys.

No one mentioned Surface bashing apple with Barney Rubble the massive idiot voice Xmas campaign?
The problem with all MS products is the run Windows --a mac wanna-be system for the AGES
I don't care if it has a touch screen--with that OS it BLOWS

and so did those ads--if you have to cast aspersions at another it means generally you are
acknowledging their superiority in some way

and you just KNOW that voice is that Belushi wannabe from the Goldbergs--that guy has parlayed success from being a crappy sidekick fatso for far too long

Laws regarding product advertising can be rather confusing. Some commercials call out competitors by name, while others don't.

For the next few months until November will we see the greatest bashing commercials of all time:
Bigger than the Super Bowl, World Cup, the World Series and World War II combined:

Hillary Clinton vs Donald Trump!

Two of the biggest obnoxious gasbags two political parties could nominate!

You said it! I'm more than incredibly disgusted with the both of them, especially Trump. People have told me that my vote will be wasted if I vote for any one either than those two (I'm going Libertarian for Gary Johnson), but it'll just have to be wasted, because I personally believe that it would be more wasted if I voted for Clinton or Trump.

Totally agree with this.  So sick of companies bashing each other.

Samsung is notorious for this in their "war" against Apple.  Meanwhile, Apple just sells their products.  Granted they used to dis Microsoft left and right, but that has changed.  But seriously, I hate mudslinging in political campaigns and equally hate it in commercials.  Does not make me want to buy your product because you seem petty.  Sell me your product, don't dissuade me from buying theirs.

How about...

Burger King always bashing McDonald's, those commercials piss me off!
And I'm drinking Pepsi because of my mom who died (and I'll never recover from that no matter what, okay?!), but I do hate it when Pepsi bashes Coke...I actually like both colas.

Thank God for kids who love Obscure Things.
