I just saw an ad for some "As Seen on TV" type miracle product that will give you not one, but two! for $19.99 if you order in the next ten minutes, and it made me think of something from the past...
Do you all remember how these kinds of commercials back in the day would let you pay by check, money order, or COD? Cash on delivery was one of the most perplexing things to me as a kid--and still is (though if I googled it I'm sure I'd find an explanation.) So, there was a time when the post office took responsibility for collecting payments from customers and getting it back to the proper seller? This could not have been a very efficient system! I guess it was no wonder that in later years those ads changed to "check or money order, no COD"!
