I can't find the commercial, so I'll HAVE to explain the commercial...AGAIN!

There's a father and son going grocery shopping, the dad buys Cheerios and the son has to ask 20 questions...

Is there a prize inside?

It keeps going...I don't think ANY cereal has a prize in it anymore!
Thank God for kids who love Obscure Things.

Yes, some cereals still have a "prize" inside. THIS is one of the best commercials on air right now...it's done well, it's just long enough, and it's cute without being sappy. The little boy does a very good job, I think. Didn't think there was anybody who didn't like this commercial...

It was a cute commercial, and I think it was the little boys grandfather not dad. It was one of the few less annoying spots! LOL!

This is the one in which the dad (or g'father) explains that the prize is the lowered cholesterol, right?  He doesn't really explain "lowered cholesterol" to the kid, as kids would neither get that, nor care---but he implies it, right?

That's the one.  What kind of prizes do they put in cereal nowadays?

It's supposed to be the kid's father,  the kid even says "Dad" right at the beginning of the commercial. But since the actor in the commercial, Shashawnee Hall, is 50, I guess he could be the little boy's gramps, too.
Yes, Tiz, I see boxes of cereal with "prizes" inside,  not very often, but often enough that it's not unheard of, although today it's usually music downloads or some such connected with our electronic/digital age.
Thor, that's the one. The "cholesterol-lowering properties" make the Cheerios  the "super hero."Smile

I kind of feel bad for the kid because the dad didn't explain it very well. The kid probably thinks there will be something cool in there and he's going to be disappointed when there's no prize.

I remember opening the box, reaching in, and digging around for the prize.  It'd suck if all I could find was lowered cholesterol.

Big ol' box o' disappointment.

It's not so bad for a cereal commercial.  At least it shows the man buying the product in a supermarket, which is reasonably typical and true to life.

I think it's an ok ad.  Speaking of cereal ads..sorry but I don't start a new thread so I don't get in trouble ... but the mini wheats thing, where the mini wheat is slurping the milk with his mile long tongue to bring his "friend" out of the milk.  If the mini wheat can have a seriously LONG tongue, then why can't he just have a really long arm to pull his friend out of the milk?

^It's fishing for other mini-wheats to eat. The cannibalistic disturbingness of their ads is too much for me, Channel changers always.

^^^ I think that one is for Cinamon Toast Crunch.

The Cheerio ad with the kid and his dad doesn't bother me. At least it isn't a smart mouth kid and clueless father. It's almost (dare I say it???) refreshing!

This is true. At least the dad is not an idiot. It would be funny, though, if they showed the kid dumping out the box looking for the prize. The dad should have just explained that the prize is that it's healthy. Maybe he did that later. Wow, I'm really over-analyzing this one, lol.

I have no beef with this commercial. But on the subject of prizes in cereals, anyone here remember when cereals actually had GOOD prizes in them?

My first 45 "record" came off the back of a Honeycombs box.  "Sugar Sugar"  by the Archies!

I liked when they had records on (not in) the box.  They were laminated onto the cardboard, and you'd cut them out and play them on your record player.  I was a record hound way back.
