Looks like it's beginning to be that time once again.  I am going to start this thread off with three videos I saw on television the past two days from Staples, I hope you all enjoy them because I sure didn't.

http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7RRl/staples-excited-parents-song-by-d-boyz

http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7RMe/staples-ladies-song-by-d-boyz

http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7Rr5/staples-back-to-school

The dancing is bad and really, who really is excited to go back to school?

Stay at home moms are the only ones who have a reason to be excited about school starting again.

It's probably a mixed bag.  On the one hand, when school's in session, they're gone all day.  On the other hand, you have to keep up with all their activities and schedules, make sure they get to school on time, do their homework, have a lunch, etc.

When school's not in session---well, it used to be that Moms could just shove their kids out the door.  Nowadays, they let them stay inside and play video games to their heart's content.  Plus, they're always asking for stuff.

Payless Shoe Source - two stupid girls singing "oh yeah! oh yeah!" about three times in the frickin' commercial. REALLY - are you that excited to go back to school, sit at a desk 90% of the day, be told what to do by a teacher and then do homework after you get off the bus?

A pair of Payless shoes nearly caused me to get into a wreck a few years ago.

I had purchased a pair of hiking boots from them back around 2001 or 2002, but never wore them. They sat in my closet for about 7 or 8 years. I finally decided to start wearing them to work at my weekend hospital job, so one Saturday morning, I put them on & headed to work.

As I was exiting the interstate highway & approaching the stop sign at the end of the off ramp, I went to put my foot on the brake but something was wrong. I couldn't depress the brake pedal & wasn't slowing down. I look down & though it was a bit dark down there, I could see that the sole of the shoe had come loose & was wedged between the brake pedal & the floor.

I had to yank my leg upwards to get it untangled then really tromp hard on the brake just as I was almost at the stop sign. There was traffic going by on the cross street too, so I very possibly could have hit somebody had I gone through it.

Apparently, the cheap glue they used to attach the sole to the shoe just deteriorated & the sole was hanging off the toe of the shoe.

Then, to add to it, I had to wrap duct tape around the shoe to hold the sole on so I could walk at work. I had to wrap it so tightly, my foot was in agony with every step.

Last pair of Payless shoes I ever bought.

So...I'm trying to figure this one out.  Am I watching High School Musical or a commercial?

Oh and just to add to more of the irritation...

Christ, thankfully you were able to stop in time.  The only shoes I'd ever gotten from there was when I was in elementary school, and from what I remember they were uncomfortable to say the least.  Probably didn't last that long either.

Damn, I remember this collection of crotch dropping losers from last year.  Please Kmart do not subject me to this garbage on my TV again!

K-Mart also aired those horrible "limo" ads on the radio last year. They are disgusting and a reason why I do not shop at K-Mart anymore. I put them down on the top 10 worst commercials for 2013.
A school bus is DEFINITELY not my limo - the seats might be padded and you might have a nice driver, but there's the idiot kids, throwing things, blaring music loud and swearing to other kids (ESPECIALLY the ones in the back of the bus!!) and the hard floors. NOT a limo.

Keeping on the shoe topic, here is Famous Footwear's back to school commercial.  If I was a lunch room worker and saw this girl put her shoes on the table, I'd smack them off faster than anything.  Gross! That is where you put your food down on! Dead

For those of you who have a shoe fetish, yes they also have an app!

Something similar happened to me a few years ago as I was trying to make a left outta my 'hood and I couldn't depress the gas pedal.  But it wasn't due to faulty shoes; it was due to the fact that they were flip-flops.  Somehow, the sole wedged between the pedal and the floor.  I'll never drive in flip-flops again.

My cousin Lori totalled her 1960 Beetle in 1971 coming back from the Jersey Shore when she kicked off her platform shoes and one of 'em got wedged beneath the brake.  Luckily, traffic was moving slowly because there wasn't much under the "hoods" of those VWs to absorb any impact.

The Famous Footwear "Confidence" ad is indicative of the worst aspect of contemporary public education. A pair of glittery shoes give her the right to strut to the table, then put her feet up, next to everyone's food trays. The final shot of her with her arms crossed with "attitude" suggests that she'll be sassing the teachers all day. The biggest problem in today's schools is that the kids have no discipline, do/wear what they want, and nobody dares challenge them, lest a lawsuit results. I'm guessing that, if a teacher dared to "ask" (not TELL, heaven forbid!) her to put her feet on the floor, her momma would sue the school district for disrespecting her right to self expression (and win).

I saw that piece of crap Famous Footwear commercial. You do not need to look so glittery richy fancy to go to school. Just put on a good shirt, pants and shoes and you are fine. (Unless, of course you are in a school district that requires uniforms - and I know a lot, especially down in Texas/Louisiana area). Schools are all about lawsuits nowadays. I've seen stories of people getting bullied, fighting back and then getting lawsuit letters for "harming my son (or daughter)" - the one that bullied the other! Decades ago, we would hit back, to the point of bleeding, no one would suspend you from school, and they would apologize and never do it again. Now, one TOUCH and you are suspended for 3 days for "hitting someone". Geeze!

I hate to do this to all of you but....

I couldn't even make it through the whole video.  The girl is just so obnoxious and annoying along with the music the kid is playing, also, who the heck let's their little girl wear leopard spotted tight pants to school?  What a tramp!  Way to go JC Penny.

I made the horrible mistake of forcing myself to endure the whole thing.    Hell would be trapped in a room and tied to a chair with that commercial playing in an infinite loop.  Could they have found a more annoying music and commentary combination? Angry

That famous footwear commercial is terrible. Where does she get the "balls" to walk over to a table at school and put her feet ON the table and then have an attitude about it. How does famous footwear think its ok to try and pass this off as "confidence"

Am I just noticing more than in past years, or is there a boatload more of this back to school garbage than usual?  Or maybe is it they're just getting shoved in our faces earlier than usual?
