ugh, i hate this commercial. try not saying such long sentences if you can't say the whole thing without taking huge gasps. or just breathe normally or something.

the werewolf one bugs me too because she doesn't pronounce anything properly, she says warewulf, etc. ugh. it's not even like "oh it's just an accent" like how people in the south would pronounce things or whatever. it's just wrong. ugh, she probably drinks "melk" (or malk) too.

So, that's a YES vote for MORE BEATINGS?  Cuz, hey, more is better than less, right?

Stupid line of commercials.  I put this one up there with being just as stupid as "faster is always better."
Reader, suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.

I absolutely detest these "we want more" AT&T commercials. I have no idea why these illiterate kids are in the commercial, why the adult pretends to be entranced with their illiterate ramblings - and, most of all, what do these kids have to do with AT&T?

And sadly, they've made multiple versions of this ad with a different kid rambling incoherent gibberish.  I don't get it.

These commercials actually turn me off of AT&T.  I figure if the senior executives saw and approved these ads, then it makes me question their judgment and intelligence in general - which, in turn, makes me question their ability to provide good service to customers. So yeah, I'm avoiding AT&T like the plague largely due to these commercials.

Apparently, some people are not spanking their kids hard enough or often enough.

90%?

Where did you get that figure from?

And what constitutes spanking according to this? Full on butt-whoopin', or even slaps on the hand?

Everywhere I've been, if a parent so much as taps a misbehaving kid, the majority act like you just pulled down your kids pants and raped them with a cucumber.

Maybe we should have one derailed topic to discuss kinky spanking, another to discuss disciplinary spanking.

Cinnamon.

God they burn, but I love them. Local woman makes them and sells them at the farmer's market.

Someone has to make the joke, considering the initial context that cucumbers and pickles came into the thread:

Burn what? Shocked

So in your example... MORE outside is better than MORE tv... So you have succumbed to the idea you wanted to avoid... that more is better than less. In your case, you have chosen that -more- exercise is better than -more- TV.

Even someone who gives up all their worldly possessions is still doing it under the idea that they will be getting more of something in return. Perhaps more inner-peace, or to gain what they think is more spirituality, or just gaining more simplicity in their life which they believe will lead to MORE happiness.

Here is a fact of humanity (and life in general): The only reason you would want less of something is to get -MORE- of something else. So yes... -more- is what we want and wanting more is essential to life's survival. It's the reason the world exists.

This commercial wouldn't be so bad if they didn't overplay it.  I get really tired of seeing the same commercial 3 times an hour for 3 months at a time.  It's too much. Nobody likes to watch the same commercial over and over even if it is a good commercial.

If it's an annoying commercial, then that's what really bugs me.

*I* believe 'child blood-letting' may help, maybe just to the point where they start to turn a little pale and you can notice a slight blue tinge on their lips, then stop.
Be consistent and apply regularly.
They will get the message, or it just won't matter.
Instilling the fear of certain death always beats the hell out of a little pain.
This works with teenagers and adults, too.
I'd suggest you do this in your sound-proofed underground bunker with the secret entrance.
When you accidently lose one, remember there is always a 'silver lining' - you need not be short for that summer BBQ in the back yard! Turn a bad thing into a good one.

ConfusedWait! NONE of that sounds quite right - forget it - I never said it, o.k.? Cool. o.k. then!

In reality, in *my* books, a 'sting', when properly and consistently applied, is very appropriate.
People that believe they can reason with youth are, well,  I'll say 'misinformed' (as it is not politically correct to call you 'idiots' - you're not - you have accepted the 'success' of your method based off of the ultimate results you've gleened and considered 'acceptable' (no matter *I* do)).
Having said that...
I'm right, You're wrong, and that's all...and I don't give a damn if you are a Child Psychologist with a degree from Cambridge. We can and do claim 100% success, and yes, there were appropriate 'butt warmings'. 'Little Minds' need molding as much as fertilizing - I believe in 'DISCIPLINE', but there is a 'magic' to applying stronger forms of it.
~~~
Back to AT&T's current line of plagiarized (from the absolutely delightful and classic Ally Bank commercials) line of 'kiddy crap':
The 'Werewolf' one is absolutely adorable. I mentioned somewhere in another thread that I love that commercial - THAT kid is SHARP! I just love her! It doesn't hurt that her looks and personality are almost identical to our youngest daughter's, when she was that age.
AT&T should get as original as Ally got - if one could get beyond themself, they got the clear sales message.
While I don't care for these ones with the kids, they did do a couple with NBA legends Magic, Bird, Russell, and Kareem which gave me a chuckle, especially this one:
Actually, I had a wonderful parent.
No, I don't hate children. I just hate what society has done to them.
Children have to be treated like little adults now. You can't smack them, you can't discipline them, you can't criticise them..if you don't treat your child's hideous macaroni art like the greatest thing since Warhol, CPS comes over to murder you and protect "the little innocents."
Children behaved better when a hickory switch was the response for bad deeds. And now-a-days, you can't even flick a kid in the nose without being a child abuser.
The truth is.  That is exactly what children are, they are little adults.  I wish more parents would realize that.  They aren't dolls or toys for your amusement.
If you let them get away with stuff now when they are tiny adults because it amuses you, then they will grow up into self-centered arrogant demanding full size full weight adults that no one will want to be around.
My personal take on corporal punishment is that it should be used in the same way that you would execute the death penalty on an adult.  I believe it should be used as a last resort punishment, sort of an, I really need to get through to you that this behavior is unacceptable and won't be tolerated.
I don't think most kids need it, but there are some, like me, that definitely needed it from time to time.
I respectfully disagree.
A Wolf's Summarized Opinion:
They are children - and people need to let them be that and guide them through the process of becoming an adult. They NEED to be children and grow into adulthood at their own rates; they will understand life and adjust much better given that opportunity. It's better for them and really good for you as you can really enjoy life a heck of a lot more if you 'grow' (you will) with them - especially the hilarious and harmless times when you try to revert for the purpose of understanding their rationale for what landed them in the unfortunate and harmless situations they encounter along with how they deal with them (I've happily lost sleep for some things just too funny and surreal). Having said that, those moments are great chances to advise options and solutions (that you know will work - but you are not directly telling them such) as you want them to work through situations and gain confidence; let them understand and certainly become more sef-assured and unltimately, more secure in themselves.
They cannot be your FRIENDS - they must remain your CHILDREN.
Usually, they think they are adults by 21, but unfortunately, some just become old children.
An adult is a mature, responsible, and fully-developed individual. Hopefully, a well-rounded individual. An adult is generally of 21 years of age, for many legal reasons.
Part of the reason for the 'sting of truth' is to help fortify the understanding of right and wrong, because a good ass-whipping, properly applied now (with love - "this is going to hurt me than it is you"), is a lot less painful than jail-time, later. Another part might be the establishments of 'boundaries' and the knowledge of when they are about to cross the line again and possibly become a 'repeat offender'.
What bugs me are the kids that learn to love a good dose or corporal punishment and what they become, as adults.
Dwarves and midgets are little adults.
Dwarves and midgets are more fun to spank than children, as long as they're not your friends and are criminals that would likely be handed down a short sentence, by a judge.
It isn't fun to spank your friends unless you are married to your friend - but then it might be time to reflect upon your upbringing, if it IS fun for you to spank your friends, no matter dwarves, midgets, paraplegics, wives, monkeys, or otherwise...I dunno...my hands are getting tired with all this spanking going on.
