Unfortunately, I don't. Not enjoying the 3-D ads.

I was at Acme and the cashier and bagger were talking about having the glasses, but they had no more. It just makes the commercials look annoying, though i'm sure they'd look just as harsh WITH the glasses.

I do. One of my relatives picked them up at the supermarket and handed them out to everyone. I thought it was cute.
Gimmicky, but cute. |

Yeah, I have an excellent pair of 3D Anaglyph glasses, and those commercials SUCKED! Either that or my 48" Mitsubishi HD TV is really horribly out of whack color-wise. I got almost no 3D effect from those two ads. Perhaps, they have tuned the colors so that you MUST have THEIR glasses to see it right. I tried flipping my glasses upside down, in case they had broadcast the colors the other way, but the screen was just flat that way. I saw just enough of a hint of 3D to be visually confusing. IMHO, Disney and Gatorade just tossed quite a few millions of bucks right down the crapper. |

If you don't have the glasses, the commercials look blurry and annoying.
The preview for Monsters vs. Aliens looks great. The SoBe commercial is a mess. Total garbage. It's like computer generated vomit. First with the ballet-dancing football players. Cingular Wireless did this exact thing in a bad commercial in the 90's. I know this because I reviewed that ad. Unfavorably. But this SoBe ad reminds us not of just one bad commercfial from the past, but two, as this is a redux of their bad commercial from last year. Why is it these comapnies have their heads so far up their own asses, they don't realize it when their ads miss the mark? Last year's SoBe ad was so vile and confusing, people thought it was an ad for Geico Insurance. And yet they decided to take last year's ad and super-size it, exploding trash all over the screen. In 3D for those who were so unfortunate. |

I just read CheezNapkin's reply, and maybe I was right, you do need the company's special issue 3D glasses to see it right.
If broadcasters are going to start playing more Analglyph 3D programming, all of them really need to sit down together and hammer out a standard. Otherwise, everyone that does this will have to somehow distribute yet more special 3D glasses every time, and we who might be interested in viewing those shows, will have to keep a bloody huge collection of pre-labeled 3D glasses on hand, so we can grab the right ones. But I have trouble thinking that Analglyph 3D is ever going to be much more than a curious novelty, and the narrowest of niche markets. ![]() |

Nope. But you could see the blue/yellow colors, really annoying on those ads. |

Thanks for that report. That is what was wrong. My not exactly cheap "true" anaglyph glasses are Red/Blue. I had never heard of Blue/Yellow before, but the yellows came right through. That is what I meant by creating a standard. I got my fancy glasses because I have quite a collection of 3D images from the various Mars missions. I hated the paper framed flimsy cellophane lens cheap glasses, and purchased these. They can fit over my prescription glasses, and have optically flat red and blue lenses, so they do not create optical distortions. The best full motion 3D I've ever seen, was at a huge IMAX theater in Irvine, California. That system used LCD glasses controlled by an infra red system in the theater, to alternately close or open each lens, and project one frame to the screen for each blink of each glasses lens. So, each eye saw a different perspective. Nice depth, and pretty decent color and resolution. But the LCDs in the glasses had a maximum speed they could blink, so that limited the motion on the screen. But still, nicely done, IMAX. I suppose that if I watched more TV, and actually watched and listened to the ads (cough, hack, gag, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ) then I would have got the word and gone looking for the right glasses. |

Got 4 pair at Target today. They had a big box full of sheets of four. You had to punch/cut them out...
I didn't see a very good 3-D image, but my wife said she did. Of course, I never saw an image in those funky pictures from a few years ago either. The glasses were blue/red not yellow. |

The best one I witnessed was a 3D-IMAX at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida which was about the space station. That looked like 3D to me. As for the commercials tonight, it looked like it was filmed in "Wonka Vision"!

The Terminator T-2 attraction at Universal Studios has amazing 3-D effects.
You see little flying saucers zipping around the room & hovering right in front of your face. At one point you see one of the legs of this giant space spider morph into a razor sharp sword & the tip extends toward you & appears to stop about an inch from your nose.
Really cool.
I hope TV is like that someday.

There were PLENTY of glasses to go around at the Party I went to yesterday. One thing I DIDN'T Like. When you tried to separate the glasses you found out whoever had these things manufactured DID NOT perforate the lenses!
I have a couple of the 4-packs which I'm going to put away. (You never know, they might be worth something someday!)

If you have the glasses, they can be reused tonight. There's a show called Chuck that will be broadcast in 3-D.
I saw the game in high-def yesterday, and the 3-D effect for the commercial was pretty damned good. I'll see how it goes in low-def tonight when I watch Chuck.

Andy Warhol's Frankenstein was good in 3-D. There's this one scene in which a spear goes through someone's back and a out his front, with an internal organ hanging from the end. You start out seeing it from the side, and then the spear begins to swing around toward you. Finally, the organ falls off the end of the spear and seems as if it's falling right into your lap!
Good stuff!

Not a good ad campaign not to tell folks where to get the darned things. I only found out about it late on Friday...never saw any in the grocery store yesterday.
The SoBe commercial with the football players is confusing...at first you think they are selling Fruit of the Loom underwear...my mind kept thinking are they selling underwear for men or what...if I did not know ahead of time that this was some wierd 1/2 neked football players dancing with Sobe lizards..I would of thought ....hmmm new men's underwear for the winter.

(just noticed this thread...) Our front-room glass-topped coffee table had a small herb garden growing on it. In the middle of the 8 pots, MissyDWolf has left four (4) pair of cheapo-3D glasses...been there for months. (think they came with that last Michael Jackson CD).
I wish I would've "borrowed" a few pair from our last IMAX trip.
