Its time for ad agencies to earn their money by coming up with a fresh idea every now and then. No, not a new skit for Flo either. At least GEICO cancelled the caveman idea.
Here's a few that have run their course. Swiffer and the mops & brooms with feelings. E-Trade and their talking baby campaign GEICO's "Can GEICO save you save 15% or more?: Did .........?" has grown stale.

How about the whole process of elimination ones i.e. Auto trader.com, Freschetta, Golden Corral, etc. I just saw GC do one for seafood.

I am very very tired of...
...the Geigo gekko
...the Bud Light ads where the men love their stupid beer more than their hot girlfriends
...the Sunsetter retractable awning ads with that irritating couple
...Mike Rowe's Ford commercials (come to think of it, I'm just tired of Mike Rowe)
..."It's my money, and I need it NOW"
I could probably go on, but those are on my mind at the moment.

And another thing...
That "Four Times the Steak" atrocity from Taco Bell
I swear if I hear that idiot screaming the lyric "It's like a whole honkin' cow" one more time I will lose it. That may be the single most irritating ad line of the century (so far).

The cavemen did a couple skits for ESPN awhile back.
Second the Golden Corral "all for around 10 bucks" ads. Those Coors Light ads with the coaches in the press room are really dated.... and stupid

- The Miller Lite ads with the snarky, bitchy bartenders
- Progressive's Flo ads need to die a horrible death - Any ad that has the words the announcer is saying jump and pop up on the screen - Ads that feature people (mainly men) acting like d-bags and/or idiots |

Automakers featuring regular John or Jane Everyman testing/reviewing cars i.e. the Hyundai hidden camera ones, the god awful pretentious Mercedes owners, Ford/Mike Rowe, just saw a Chevy one, Subaru with married couple... y'all get the point.

In addition to these, any ad that makes it seem as though pulling out a food processor or using "your old knives" is the equivalent of giving birth compared to using the salad shooter, the bullet or whatever. And why is there always a crying baby in the background?

Yes!!! As if any time I go to get a piece of tupperware out of my cupboard, an avalanche of dishes falls on my head! And if you watch the actress's faces, they do in fact look like they're squeezing out a 10 pound baby. So absurd! Also, I add to the list of campaigns that should die, the Subway 5 dollar footlong jingle. I thought it was stale and boring when it first came out, and I am amazed they still pretty much use it as is- monotone crap. Of course they think they're making it fun and different with equally crappy little scenarios with really, really bad actors and choreography....ugh!

Yep.
Subway obviously thinks it's their ads, not the $5 price, that drive their sales. Hello, Subway...people buy $5 footlongs becuase they're FIVE DOLLARS, not because of your stupid ads.

One that I think should have died a long time ago is the one for the various Garnier Fructis shampoos that are/were in existence. It seems like for as long as the shampoo has existed the commercials have had the "girl and her group of friends having fun" theme, ending with the girl either sashaying toward the camera (or a simple closeup shot) as her friends hang out in the background. A couple examples of what I'm talking about:
Time to put this one to rest, Garnier Fructis. Come up with something new. |

The ladies aren't going to like this, but I'm pretty tired of the Old Spice guy. I just honestly don't know what they're going for here. It's a men's deodorant but their commercials are targeted at women.

Wow, I agree with so many of these. So many to pick from.
All Swiffer ads need to die. The inanimate objects with feelings, the new dirt/mud women, all ad execs for Swiffer need to be fired immediately.
Flo and the Progressive ads. Enough said.
The talking Mucinex blobs....I genuinely can't believe they were introduced as a marketing campaign in the first place, so words can't describe my shock and horror that they somehow persist on the air. My toddler isn't even enamored by them, and that's saying a lot.
All Olive Garden commercials. Every single one is pure garbage.
I'll second the Progresso ringing soup can commercials.
All ambulance chasing attorney commercials - the local ones here in Denver are especially bad. Some fat attorney bursting through gigantic replicas of checks from the insurance company - "DON'T ACCEPT THAT CHECK FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY!" Seriously, the guy looks like a fat Hitler, and he needs to disappear now.
I'll also second the 5 dollar footlong jingle. ESPECIALLY their new version, changing it to "Februany any". WOW. That's all I can say.
All commercials depicting men as a bunch of babies, idiots, bumbling buffoons, you get the idea. The only redeeming quality is that they never fail to bring to memory one of my favorite Brian Regan skits, regarding depicting men as morons: "My husband is soooooo stupid. That's why I do all of his thinking for him." One recent offender is for a cold remedy that claims "it even works on the man-cold" and shows some man pathetically laying on the couch going "I can't reach the remote" which is about an inch away from his hand. I don't know about the rest of you, but my husband is the OPPOSITE of that - I can't even recall the last time I heard him complain about being sick or not feeling well.
I could go on and on, but I think I'll stop now.

Totally agree, this guy's 15 minutes are up. Not hating on him, he did some commercial awards show, was on talk shows, props to ya but F'n A, the whole abstract, speaking in riddles, movable background schitck is stale, played out, tired, old...etc. Just get off the stage...

How bout those Adholes (saw term somewhere, am stealing it :), where oldies songs are used. OMG, I hate hate hate that, so unoriginal and annoyong. Off top of my head, Nissan Quest idiot mom with hands full and they use "mama said they'd be days like this" song. Older Lipton green tea with mmm mmm song and they also used "I think I love you" from I guess David Cassidy (before my time, not sure). Chase Card used "oh oh it's Magic" song. Gah, I am gettin enraged typing this.

........................ Gawd. If the brooms & mops weren't bad enough, now they started this idiotic mud women campaign. And some dude dressed as a dust bunny in a computer keyboard.

I may be female, but even I'm tired of all these commercials with these overbearing, "my man can't do ANYTHING right!" women. Just once I'd love to see the roles reversed in a commercial...
I'm also really sick and tired of the Progresso soup, Swiffer, Binder & Binder, Sleep Number bed, and Progressive commercials. :(
