They let slip during one This Old House remodel that the house belonged to someone who was related to a PBS exec.  Of course, TOH was paying for the remodel, which got into big bucks for lots of fancy stuff.  The show long ago got away from DIY and became "pay the contractor".  Not even sure if it is on anymore...

You jest, but most of the time when the homeowner is told about a huge expense, they just get this look on their faces like a deer caught in the headlights and nod their heads.  I can't believe what some of the contractors on the HGTV programs charge.  Why in the world does it cost  $2,000 to take down an interior wall that's not loadbearing??Confused

HGTV (Canada) has Mike Holmes showing how to do it RIGHT (been doing it for HGTV for 15 years). *I* really like the guy - straight shooter, EXCELLENT work. Can't get his shows unless I'm back at The Den in The Great White North...if The Den had any issues, I'd find Holmes and somehow come up with the funds...

Does anyone want to help me buy a new roof?

I can't complain but sometimes I still do.
