All that hot coffee and the obligatory dancing...I guess burnt genitals are now on the 7-11 menu!

This looks to be part of the same ad campaign as those gang girls riding bikes around a gas station.

This one, I like, though. Unlike the biker girl one, it's not hostile.

One of my suppliers at work is in this video. He's the guy in the wife-beater, playing stand-up bass. Name's Joe. He's also a pro body builder in the 60+ age category. Pretty cool guy.

Gary Setzer must be Brian Setzer's much less successful brother.

Or cousin, maybe. You can see the obvious family resemblance.

You'd think Brian would have given him a gig in Stray Cats.

It's not like Slim Jim Phantom, the guy they had on drums, did anything anymore complex than what he's doing in this video.

Probably didn't have  enough of that cool 1950's greaser look for the image they wanted.

Cool

As Joe tells me, Gary and Brian were in a rockabilly band together when, behind Gary's back, Brian and a coupla friends signed on together as the Stray Cats. I don't think it set well with Gary.

Both were also in a more art rock new wave band at the time called the Bloodless Pharoahs. I remember the name from way back when.

A pretty nice rockabilly song. Better than the first ad IMO.

I was going to bring up the 'Ghetto Girls' ad too...

I sort of "met" Brian Setzer once. He was kind of a jerk.

There's a little club downtown, in a building that, back in the 30's and 40's, housed a movie theater called The Beacham Theater. In the 70's it became a small but well known concert venue called The Great Southern Music Hall. In the 80's & 90's it was several different night clubs before reclaiming the name The Beacham.

In the early - mid 90's it hosted a lot of former big name acts. I saw Johnny Winter there and a couple of others, including Stray Cats. After the show, several people went around back hoping to get autographs. I was walking by, saw the crowd and figured I'd hang out there for a bit and see if I could see them which I did.

They came out and Slim Jim Phantom and Lee Rocker were friendly and chatted with everyone. Setzer came out and signed autographs for a few girls but wouldn't talk to any one else, especially any guys or sign autographs for any guys. While we were standing like half an arms length from him, a few of us made casual, friendly comments to him and he didn't even acknowledge our existence.

Yes, but the bikes situation is at least plausible. Folks can ride bikes with their Big Gulps sitting in their bike carriers/cup holders. But dancing while holding hot coffee?? C'mon, man!

That guy Joe that I know, didn't have much good to say about Brian, either.

Van Morrison is another one generally considered a jerk.

And Glenn Frye. He stayed pissed off at Jeff Bridges for his ROLE as The Dude in The Big Lebowski ("And man, I hate the Eagles!")

I read the tell all bio about the Eagles by former lead guitarist Don Felder titled "Heaven and Hell: My Life as an Eagle".

Very interesting and revealing book.

According to him, they were both major league greedy pricks and assholes.

Each took double shares of the band's profits for themselves.

Glenn Frey's nickname was "Roach".

But the band fought constantly and didn't like each other.

I think Joe Walsh was the only one who didn't have personal problems with anyone.

That's why I don't like biopics. I like hearing about the history of a band and the music, but I don't wanna know who hates who and why.

A lot's been written about Fleetwood Mac's interpersonal dramas. I don't care how salacious it might be, I'm just not interested.

Lately, I've been getting a lot of articles in my news feed about Roger Waters of Pink Floyd. Apparently, he's an ass. However, I just don't want to know this! I don't want to think of this when I'm listening to Dark Side of the Moon.

Fleetwood Mac is definitely in their own category. It was a "Whose banging who" nightmare.

And after all of that, Stevie Nicks STILL says she loves (but also hates) Lindsay Buckingham.

They were the 70s version of the Mamas and Papas.

I mentioned in the past that Henley hates his music being on YouTube, and will delete any of the Eagles's or his solo material for copyright, and has filed numerous lawsuits over IP matters.

I'm only interested in them when they are about bands or individuals I am interested in knowing about.

The Neil Young bio was interesting partly because it delved behind the scenes of the 60's music scene.

Buffalo Sprinfield, CSN&Y, etc.

I learned that in the mid 60's, Neil Young once did studio session work with Rick "Super Freak" James.

Very "innarresting" as the book quoted Yound as saying.

I also read the Allman Brothers bio.

I'm going to read the Tom Petty bio next.

Kinda like how Jimi Hendrix was a member of Joey Dee and the Starlighters (Peppermint Twist) and wrestling promoter Jimmy "Mouth of the South" Hart was a member of the Gentrys (Keep on Dancin').
